To apply for trips, 4-H members complete a 4-H resume and participate in an interview process. (Click here for the resume-writing packet). Resumes for all trips are due to the UW-Extension Office by November 1. Partial funding for trips is available through the Oconto County 4-H Leaders Association. Interested youth will go through a County interview process. Click here for a brochure explaining these trips, and the exact dates for the upcoming year.
Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF)
Nine day bus trip during the summer to Washington D.C. Approximately 200 Wisconsin 4-H Youth are selected to attend this leadership program held at the National 4-H Center. Participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events. Open to youth in grades 10-12.
National 4-H Conference
Six youth from Wisconsin are selected to attend this working conference held at the National 4-H Center. Each participant selects an issue and works with other youth from across the country to develop plans that help direct future 4-H programming. Delegates spend the majority of time contributing to stimulating, task-oriented groups. One day is spent on Capitol Hill meeting with legislators and touring. Members in grades 10-12 may apply.
National 4-H Congress
Flight to Atlanta for leadership conference. Delegates participate in self-development seminars, tours, and a service project, while exchanging ideas with youth from across the country. Members in grades 10-12 may apply.
Bus Ride to Huntsville, Alabama in Spring for a mock space mission. Youth in grades 6 through 8 can apply for this trip. Delegates participate in hands-on mock space missions and other activities in this NASA program while exchanging ideas with youth from across Wisconsin.
Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference
Bus trip to UW-Madison. Fun! Seminars! Approximately 600 youth attend this educational event in Madison each summer. Participants take part in seminars and assemblies and meet people from across Wisconsin. They are encouraged to take what they learn and share it with others in their community. Members in grades 7-10 can apply.
Winter Leadership Camp
Fun-filled weekend of teambuilding, leadership skills and campfire! For youth in grades 6-8, this is a great weekend full of leadership development and fun! Held in February at Camp TaPaWingo near Mishicot, WI. Spaces are limited.
American Spirit Experience Trip
Bus Trip – 9 days of history, sightseeing and leadership! The American Spirit Leadership Program for 8th – 10th graders is a wonderful opportunity to develop knowledge of American Heritage, citizenship and leadership while gaining knowledge of how the U.S. gained independence and freedom. Highlights of the trip include visits to an Amish village, Valley Forge, Philadelphia, New York, Mayflower II, Plymouth Rock, Boston, Freedom Trail and Niagara Falls. This trip takes place in late June.
Created for 4-H members in grades 3-5 and their parents and leaders, 4-H ArtBeat! is the introductory program for Wisconsin 4-H Arts and Communication! ArtBeat! South is held in the Spring at our State 4-H Camp, Upham Woods in the Wisconsin Dells. The weekend will feature a look at a variety of arts projects including music, drama, visual arts, arts and crafts, juggling and more! 4-H members will explore their own creativity while discovering the great variety of 4-H Arts & Communication experiences available to them now and in the near future. Session leaders will be 4-H older youth, adult leaders and 4-H staff members with a wealth of experience to share. Youth and adult participants will rotate through a variety of sessions which are hands-on and active and held at various sites throughout camp, including outdoors.
4-H Arts Camp
If you’re in Middle School, grades 6-8, don’t miss 4-H Arts Camp! Where else can you go to one place to learn about music, drama, visual arts, photography, communications, and juggling! You’ll rotate through the different Arts tracks each day, participate in a group Arts experience Saturday evening, and close with a ceremony for parents and families, celebrating the results of your group Arts Camp experiences. You’ll also meet new friends, participate in camp games, and enjoy the great natural setting of Upham Woods, a 300-acre environmental education center on the Wisconsin River near Wisconsin Dells
Art Leadership Lab
Arts Leadership Lab provides an in-depth and focused experience in the “art track” of choice. Tracks include the traditional communication, music, theatre arts, video, and photography and more specialized topics such as Digital Storytelling, Print Making, Basic Spinning, Tae Kwon Do and more! Each participant will choose one track for the entire weekend. Held during February at Camp Upham Woods. Open to adults and teens
